I never imagined I’d have to raise my voice in my own home. But that day, I had no choice.

I had bought the apartment two years before I even met Daniel. It was my sanctuary — every plant, every shelf, every paint color had my fingerprint. So when we got married and he moved in, it felt right.

What didn’t feel right? His mother.

She came to “help us settle in” after the honeymoon… and never left. She took over my kitchen, commented on my clothes, criticized my job, and even rearranged my bookshelves — the one sacred thing I begged her not to touch.
