After the heartbreaking loss of his beloved dog Gus, Fox News host Greg Gutfeld has turned personal grief into a powerful act of compassion — donating his entire May salary to a struggling suburban dog rescue shelter outside New Jersey.

The gesture, confirmed by both Gutfeld’s team and the shelter itself, came just days after Gutfeld shared an emotional tribute to Gus on Gutfeld!, calling him “the only co-host who never interrupted me.”

“He gave me loyalty, love, and silence — three things I don’t usually get on set,” Gutfeld said with a bittersweet smile. “So I thought: let me give that love back — to the ones still waiting for someone.”

The shelter, Hollow Creek Rescue, was on the brink of shutting down after a wave of surrenders and mounting expenses. Gutfeld’s donation — estimated to be over $60,000 — will now fund new kennels, vet care, food, and outreach efforts for nearly 50 dogs.

Shelter director Melissa Park described the moment she got the call:

“I thought it was a prank. But then they said, ‘Greg wants to do this in Gus’s name.’ I couldn’t speak. We all just cried.”

The story quickly went viral. Hashtags like #GusLegacy, #GutfeldGivesBack, and #LoveLikeGus trended across platforms. Fans flooded the shelter’s site with donations and adoption applications.

“Gus may be gone,” Gutfeld said, “but I hope some wagging tails will carry on the kind of joy he gave me — and maybe a few sarcastic stares, too.”

Fox News issued a brief statement praising the gesture:

“Greg’s compassion off-camera reminds us of the humanity behind the headlines.”
