In a move combining compassion, innovation, and unmistakable love for dogs, Fox News anchor Dana Perino has just announced a $200,000 personal investment to create what’s being called “America’s Smartest Dog Rescue Shelter” — complete with a custom-designed, AI-powered device that has animal lovers buzzing.

The facility, set to open in Colorado Springs, is unlike anything the rescue community has seen. Designed in partnership with veterinary behaviorists and tech engineers, the shelter will include:

  • Smart climate control that adjusts to each dog’s needs

  • Enrichment pods with scent and sound therapy

  • Interactive adoption stations powered by facial recognition

  • And most uniquely: “The Voice Booth” — a patented audio device that lets potential adopters record their voice and plays it back to dogs to track emotional response and bonding cues.

“I believe every dog deserves more than a cage,” Perino said. “They deserve connection. And sometimes, technology can be part of the heart.”

The project is being launched under the name “The Jasper Initiative,” in honor of Dana’s late Vizsla who inspired her lifelong advocacy for rescue dogs.

“This is my way of saying thank you — to the dog who taught me how to love deeply, and to the ones still waiting for their moment.”

The announcement, made quietly at an animal welfare summit, quickly went viral once images of the shelter’s blueprint and tech specs were leaked. Hashtags like #SmartShelterUSA, #DanaPerinoDogs, and #JasperLivesOn began trending within hours.

Animal rights organizations praised the effort as “visionary,” with some calling it the blueprint for the next generation of ethical animal care.

And as for Dana’s next step?

“We’re not building a shelter,” she said. “We’re building second chances.”
