Are you ready for the creepy and kooky return of Netflix’s Wednesday? While the release date for Season 2 is still under wraps, expected to arrive later this year, fans already have even more to look forward to. Not only did Wednesday star Jenna Ortega recently drop some intriguing hints about the possibility of a third season and behind-the-scenes buzz, but Netflix just confirmed some major news!

‘Wednesday’ Season 3 is in the works

It’s been nearly three years since season one of Netflix’s Wednesday and fans are eagerly awaiting the next installment. But they now have more than just Season 2 to look forward to.

Netflix has officially confirmed that Wednesday Season 3 will begin filming in November 2025, months before Season 2 has even premiered. According to a report by 9Meters, production is set to start on November 30.

The cast and crew will return to Wicklow, Ireland, for filming, maintaining the gothic atmosphere introduced when production relocated from Romania after the first season.

The early green light underscores the streamer’s faith in the Addams Family spin-off, which became a cultural phenomenon when it premiered in 2022. The show quickly shattered records, becoming the most-watched English-language series in a single week with 341 million hours viewed, overtaking Stranger Things Season 4.

Ortega, who stars as the show’s titular character and steps into a producing role for Season 2, teased the third season ahead of its confirmation in an interview with Variety. “We haven’t gotten an official thumbs up or anything like that, but I know the writers are…with a show like that, you kind of want to get ahead of the game,” she said.

What can fans expect from future seasons of ‘Wednesday

Season 2 picks up where Season 1 left off, with Wednesday Addams uncovering the true identity of the Hyde, Tyler Galpin while dealing with the aftermath of the shocking events at Nevermore Academy. The season will dive deeper into the mysteries surrounding the school and Wednesday’s own powers.

Showrunners and executive producers Al Gough and Miles Millar told Tudum, “This season, Wednesday’s journey is darker and more complex as she navigates family, friends, new mysteries and old adversaries, propelling her headlong into another year at Nevermore.”

In addition to Ortega, fans will see familiar faces from Nevermore Academy, including Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair) and Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay). Wednesday’s iconic gothic parents also make a return as Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams) and Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams) reprise their roles.

Fans are excited to see how Wednesday creator Tim Burton’s signature dark style will shape the next chapter.
